Description Tassel is an original miniature scale (1:12 dollhouse) cat sculpture created by hand using polymer clay over delicate wire support in the legs, neck and tail.  This cat can stand independently balanced on its back legs using the fluffy tail as anchor.  After curing, this cat was dressed in a permanent coat of applied alpaca/silk fiber (layer by layer) using scissors, tweezers and glue).  Other features include: hand-painted, glossy blue eyes, tiny pink paw pads and individually set whiskers.  Shown in this photo with a teddy bear friend (sculpted and furred in mohair flock by the same artist).  Tassel resides in a private miniature collection.

I did not make the chair in this scene.  It is a resin cast chair I purchased to use as a prop.

I really hope that you are still in this business when I have children so I can commission a hundred little dolls and things for a huge dollhouse for the daughter I may or may not one day have.

That is so adorable! I'm a big fan!! I'm curious, how does the fiber you get come? In long strips then do you cut it and then apply??

Pajutee In reply to KatnipKat [2014-05-08 01:18:27 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
I use all different types of natural fibers (i.e., long hanks, processed wools, commercial yarns that I comb out, etc.)
Regardless of the fiber, I will always prep it by combing out small chunks and clipping the ends prior to applying it to the sculpture.
This process helps remove any loose hairs and the clipping gives it a straight edge to adhere evenly to the glue.

Thanks so much!  I am a newbie here on DA, but fairly well known among the dollhouse miniature artisans and collectors
