Description This little spotted burro sculpture began its life as a clump of blended polymer clay which was molded by hand over an aluminum foil and wire armature.  After curing, it was detail painted and a realistic coat of natural alpaca wool fibers were applied (layer by layer) using scissors, tweezers and glue.

Thank you!
I do not have any tutorials on how to sculpt & apply a coat to a burro like this one.  I do use the same methods and techniques on most all of my animal sculpts, so if you want to see how I go about sculpting & adding a fiber coat -- you can check out my English Springer Spaniel tutorial found on my website.

I have been sculpting in various clays since about 1975 -- so, it is not difficult for me to work in polymer over a wire skeleton.  It depends on your skill level and comfort in working with this medium and miniature scale.  It also helps a great deal to sculpt what you 'know'.

I was wondering how they could look so smooth... You put real fur on them ? that's awsome !

I have created a tut on how to sculpt an English Springer Spaniel in 1:12 scale and apply a fiber coat.
The fiber application is basically the same process I use for all of my miniature animals

Thank you <3 -- Yes, the sculpts gotta be correct under the layer of hair to look halfway decent
