Description
Occasionally, I get the opportunity to design/sculpt special commission animals for other artisan dollhouse miniature projects. This 'Steampunk-themed' Irish Setter was commissioned for such a work. The dog was freehand sculpted from BeeSputty clay, wire, Genesis oils and hand-dyed alpaca fiber. After furring the sculpt, the hat, harness and goggles were made from clay, paints, leather and metal embellishments. This miniature dog will be part of a fabulous two story Steampunk roombox vignette.Related content

Have you made a video, or book.I would love to see how you do this.I will never be able to produce,anything near your art, Just a beginner, been working with clay for 3 years, but only on occasion's. I have a hard time starting because I have a problem with talking myself out of it even trying.I hope one day I will do it and correct my mistakes

Thank you! This is my 3rd steampunked piece. I just dump out the jar full of watch parts, spare jewelry items, and metal embellishments and piece together something as I go along.

Thank you -- yes, I sculpted and furred the dog first. Then dressed it in hat, goggles & harness. It can be displayed without the hat & goggles.

This is a great site -- I had checked it out earlier. My problem is that I am as busy as I want to be, and more exposure outside of the dollhouse miniatures community means more requests. My niche market is dollhouse miniatures -- so, I am limited as to how many one-off sculpts I can produce, and simply cannot take on more commissions.

Thanks so much! The hat & saddlebag are also sculpted in clay. It was much easier for me to make it this way (in 1:12 scale) than to fiddle with trying to find ultra thin leather to design, pattern, cut & glue together.

Thanks -- I didn't glue anything in place on the dog -- so the hat and goggles can come off if the clients wishes to display it that way.
