Description This animal is what I like to call "The T-Rex of Birds".

Standing up to 2.5 meters tall, Titanis was one of the top predators of South America, second only to it's larger cousin, the Kelenken. This predator was an extremely fast runner, capable of running down prey as fast as a horse.

The thing I find interesting about this large predator is it's forelimbs, two clawed digits, reminiscent to their theropod ancestors. It was once believed that these forearms were used for grabbing hold of prey animals, then to be hacked apart by it's large axe-like beak, but later research has shown that the arms of Titanis were not used for this purpose.

For the coloration of this animal, I used a Philippine Eagle for reference.

If its arms weren't used for grabbing, then what were they for?

I should've known. Most, if not all, theropods, had non-manipulating forelimbs.
