Description This is a custom request for a steampunk Anomalocaris. Used some old world map fabric, made a little felt top hat and mustache and created a makeshift monocle. What a dapper gentleman he is. It was fun to mix it up a bit, but I definitely missed working with my very forgiving fleece fabric.

BTW, how much for one of my own?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Paleogirl In reply to AJTalon [2012-08-18 03:25:03 +0000 UTC]

I priced this one at $55 not including shipping since I had to order specialty fabric online and spent extra time on its accessories. That's what I would charge for another as I still have some of the fabric leftover.

Drat. How about a simpler Anomalocaris? You have a price range?

Paleogirl In reply to AJTalon [2012-08-18 18:45:14 +0000 UTC]

Haha well the more simple ones made of just fleece that you can see in my gallery are priced around $42-$44 right now. They're cute, but kind of a pain to make and so I have to commit more time (and therefore charge more) to make them.

I see. How much for a trilobite keychain?

Let's see...the Treveropyge Trilobite keychains are $12 not including shipping.

"I mustache you a question." He's so dapper he's jumped through time and space to have tea with the Queen.

Oh I do so love that fabric.

The mustache is an important element I know, but it's one of those things I just don't get...

Haha yeah...I definitely like it, but steampunk does confuse me a little bit.

I get the steam bits and the clockwork ideas, but where the handlebars and fishnets come in is a little beyond me

Artistic expression? Were handlebar mustaches the facial hair of the Victorian era? I don't know, but they seem to go well with top hats I have friends that dress steampunk and even attend steampunk conventions. I've never been, but looking through the photos they took when they get back is great!

I think more trim ones were more standard. I'm trying to come up with a last minute what a coworker calls half ass stempunk for the end of the month. Those proper costumes are brutally expensive!

Paleogirl In reply to magpiesmiscellany [2012-08-18 18:42:30 +0000 UTC]

They really are expensive! I mean, they always seem very high quality and detailed, but it's quite the financial commitment to invest in if you're only going to get a couple of uses out of an outfit.

In some areas there are enough events to make it worthwhile, apparently they're like renaissance fairs with different conventins fairly regularly. (Not around here!)
