Hi,
Is this your horse?Β Is it made of wood?Β I'm interested because I have two horses by the same artist.Β They are Mexican, carved by Flores (one of the premier early carousel carvers of Mexico).Β It is very difficult to find info on Mexican carvers for some reason, but I can identify a Flores horse by its rounded muzzle and the shape of the nostrils.Β The fetlocks are also very distinctive.Β
My horses are not as fancy as this one, but the tail is very similar to my little one's tail.Β Lovely "peek-a-boo" mane too!

It's my parents', yes. (:
I can't remember if it is or not. I will check next time I'm over there. They found it in an antique auction ages ago and it's been our guest room ever since! It's definitely a lovely piece. I do remember that the center stand and pole are metal. I feel like the horse itself is some kind of plaster but it was definitely a lighter weight material. I'll keep you posted on that one. (;
