14/30Ugh.. shading on this could have been better. I outlined/shaded this pretty much in the dark so forgive the errors 8|
Not much to say about the Amphisbaena. Like the Erinyes , the Amphisbaena was created from a drop of blood.. but this time from Medusa's head. I had conflicting descriptions of how it looked, so I just drew what I thought it would look like. XD
There are several really neat things about the Amphisbaena. Like its CORPSE EATING ability. And it can regenerate. And its venomous. And it ROLLS by biting its faces. LIKE A HULA HOOP.
I MEAN, HOW COOL IS THAT.
Very cool. That's what.
But yeah. Just another awesome Greek creature that your schools have failed to even tell you about.
[edit desc] Oh yea, don't mention the unnatural looking wings. I wasn't really going for "natural wings" or anatomically correct wings for that matter. Plus I sketched this out at like 5 am. GIVE ME A BREAK 8(

wow! This is so beautiful! Your right,too. The amphisbaena is one of the few mythical creatures our schools failed to tell us about. I just love them! Your detail is extremely lovely, the wings do look out of place,like you said but who can blame ya? Overall this is a truly magnificent piece of artwork.

That's alright. X3 *cough* I'm making amphisbaenae adopts. XD But they're my own kind of amphi. 2 sets of wings, monster-like head on tail, person's choice of animal head, ears(sometimes) instead of horns, fur(most of the time), etc. :3 And they're all "chibi", as some would say. Mine are no where as good as your depiction of one though. :3

I bet one of those conflicting images was that was just a snake with heads at both ends. That's always how I've pictured it but your amphisbaena looks amazing. Oh, and did you add the wings just because or did you see a picture of a winged amphisbaena?

(Late reply, eep.. sorry!) Thank you!! And I added the wings because a few medieval drawing depicted the amphisbaena as having wings, but I drew them on there as kind of a background deal instead of actually being a part of the amphisbaena just to kind of mention that it could have had wings, but not necessarily. I hope that made sense.

(It's okay.) I know I've never seen the images of winged Amphisbaenas before. I think the wings should stay, because they add a nice touch to the picture.

Woah, some love for the amphisbeana. I like how you did the "chicken wing" version, as opposed to the more common normal serpent one. Oh, and you forgot one of it's talents: ultimate multi-tasking. One head can sleep, the other can watch, one can listen to history lectures while the other one doodles behind it's back, ect.

oh my god... that's so cute o___o. (leave it to me to find a two headed horned snake cute) The ass-end is the cutest ^^ Love those ears.. and the greenish tint to it. I really love how you've been tinting them all just slightly. Very nice touch.

I think I must have had a pretty good teacher for greek stories, because I'm pretty sure I've at least heard of all of these. .....But didn't pay much atenttion to some of the descriptions.
