Description
This was one of the sketches for a nostalgic project from awhile back, posted as www.deviantart.com/panspec/art… .
The bike was a cultural touchstone from the 1970s and my first bike, a Raleigh "Budgie" with the Chopper/Tomahawk stylings. The "Chopper" bike culture didn't fair well at the time and I don't think it made it into the 80s, when the BMX trend overwhelmed it, IIRC. The Budgie was a tiny bike - actually a bit smaller than depicted in this sketch - and I wanted to show its diminutive dimension with an adult sitting on it. The proportions are a bit off in terms of length as well, but I didn't want it to look like she was trying to ride a clown bike and come off a bit too comedic. Ironically, there were more than a few photos of sexy models posing with the Budgie/Chopper/Tomahawk bike in the 70s, but those versions of the bike all seem much larger than the bike I had.
Pencil drawing, with digital edits.
