Steven can't get poofed, he dies and never comes back if he sustains a life threatening injury. Rose would be with them forever, and Steven to never return. It's been confirmed in canon, though I guess this is an intriguing take on it as well.

Oh, this has to be so bad for all of them. I love Amethyst's face when Pearl tells Rose to stay, and how you showed Garnet's eyes and the thoughts of Ruby and Sapphire too. Rose looks gorgeous as well, I love the definition of her hair, awesome work!

I honestly don't hold it against Pearl to act that way considering she'd be the most conflicted logically speaking. She has/had it bad for Rose for the longest time and after losing her the first time, she felt she lost her way. Now that she's actually here again, Pearl's elated but at the same time saddened at the prospect of both losing Rose (again) AND losing Steven for good. I feel the worst for Pearl because Pearl just can't seem to win. I feel she'd ultimately choose Steven if it came down to one or the other, but she'd have to go through with losing Rose all over again and that must suck.

Ruby Chillax, she didn't want to see it so she just said stuff like 'No, it'll never happen, it just can't.' or 'no, no, no, it can't happen, it just won't!' and 'The day that happens is the day Ruby and I unfuse and Malachite become a better couple than us.' she just refused to accept that this was a possibility and simply didn't want to see her baby dead.
