Look away as your own risk.A Weeping Angel done for a holiday gift exchange. My recipient loves Doctor Who, so I made this piece as my gift. This pieces is about 4.75" x 6" and is made from Canson and Canford and papers.
Not going to lie, this piece was a challenge on multiple levels. Trying to capture subtle changes in color with paper is always difficult. I made decisions about what to represent, but think I may have overworked this pieces a little. I am very happy with the structure, particularly the curve of the wing, the planes of her body and face, though I didn't quite capture that in the photo (there is also a little distortion in the photos, I think I got a little too close when I took the pictures).

I know! They are so creepy and amazing! How do you think I felt when I was making this and taking photos? Too many sleepless nights keeping an eye out for it and it constantly moved around my studio when I went to work.....

The amount of detail is utterly gorgeous and the folded paper actually lends it very well to picture as the papers texture does give the illusion of actual stone, and since the angel is so monochromatic in appearance the texture leads a new draw around it.
I adore The Weeping Angels. They're like my favorite alien species ever. Skirting the border between science and superstition. Being nearly as old as the universe itself. The Lonely Assassins. Be careful though. Whatever holds the image of an Angel shall itself become an Angel.

I like to capture as much detail in my pieces as is reasonably possible as I feel it adds to the illusion of depth. Just to clarify, the paper is cut rather than folded. I tend to use the same two brands of paper, I really like the texture of the Canson papers and the Canford papers respond really well to shaping and cutting. I really appreciate your comments on the paper choices adding to the piece.
I am happy with the piece overall, but wasn't as confident about the end result as I have been with other pieces. You're comments, and the others here, make me feel the piece is more successful than I originally thought.
I love the Weeping Angels as well. They are totally creepy, but so much fun. And nothing wrong with being a nerd.
