Description And so...a little while ago, I posted a piece of Layle - of FFCC: The Crystal Bearers, and noted that - he was my 3rd favorite non-Final Fantasy (numbered in his respect...since...its still an FF title by technicality) Square lead character...for those wondering, no.2 is almost the entire cast of Xenogears - mechs and all...which is why I regrettably, won't, be doing fanart of said series - I can't do mechs to save my life and it wouldn't do it justice to me personally without them.

So that being...I skip to my no.1, numero uno, the penultimate personal favorite from Square...bar none...BRAVE FENCER MUSASHI - the original, NOT the post merger sequel...dear god...not the post merger sequel.

Why Musashi? the titular character was a blast to play, had a really fun personality, was written and voiced wonderfully to boot, and had -what I thought- was a design that could've been iconic...but wasn't meant to be. Damn you Nomura...

Not to mention, the game really was, seriously, one of the most flat out fun on Square's PSOne run.

-by the way, I know, I made the error on my very first big Musashi fanart, which can be seen here on my previous account; [link] , that Tetsuya Nomura designed Musashi and wrecked him on the sequel...I stress, he didn't -design- Musashi. The lil' warrior's first and best design was created by one Koji Matsouka...his latter design however, is very obviously...Nomura. Mind you, the promotional art for BFM, were all -illustrated- by Nomura.

As for my piece itself, if you compare, I used bits and pieces from everywhere; the game model, Koji Matsuoka's designs, as well as Nomura's illustrations. Hence, the softer hair, the eye styling, the much shorter Lumina (the broadsword, seen from the edge view) and upper vest that's not tucked in. Behind him, is the Princess, Fillet - who for those who've played the game...know she's not exactly presented in character here, but I really wanted to do a painted glass-like window bg for once, and I'm actually quite happy with it. I just hope it's not clashing, at least I don't think it is...

So before this drags any further, hope y'all enjoy this piece, It's arguably been my most favorite work i've put up in a very long time.

Addendum:
-Utensils- .5 non-photo blue leads (which -still- bled through lol), .5 standard lead mechanical pencil, assorted Prismacolor markers, Photoshop
-Working Time- 6 hrs. penciling, 8 hrs. inking and cleanup, 2 hrs. Photoshopping. Total: 16 hrs. ...that might be the longest I've ever taken...yikes

NOTE: I just noticed...the date I scribbled next to my signature...reads 2010...damn...I'll have to edit that what I get time...!@#$

I quite like the lady in the picture. That portion of the drawing looks like stained glass to me and it gave off a very positive feeling.

You know my thoughts on the original sketch, but now that the full is up:

VEERRRY NICE. I'm digging the background, too! You're really good at that intricate stuff, I've realized!
