Cheetah in the wild in the Kruger National Park. This was taken with negative film in 1993, and scanned with a Canon "CanonScan" 8400F into a digital image.Related content

i completely agree with owain about the merits of the off-centre composition. i like the diagonal divide between the road and the grassland and the fact that the cheetah is on the road, out of natural habitat. this is an interesting piece pam, a must

thanks Chris- I also like this off centre placement of the cheetah, but it is probably almost an accidental outcome, as I was probably trying to avoid getting vehicles into the picture

Great photograph, like the off centre composition and the bit of background blur. Negative film scanned explains why some of the colour has gone off but, still a good photograph.

thanks..colour did come out slightly weirdly- but still close enough. I tried to desaturate the road and this seems to have improved at least that part of it.

How far away were you from him? I tried to shoot one of them once in our zoo (from behind glass), but even there he was just too quick for me.

no- I had to lean out the window from a distance to get this as all the other vehicles were in front of me..(not supposed to lean out of the window- but for this, the risk was worth it

aint he or she lovely. We think the couple (there were two) had pups in the grass at the side of the road and were trying to protect them from the hoards of tourists who had stopped their vehicles to take pictures
