Description re-done. I had a better idea.

I have been seeing the phrase "I LOVE ALL ANIMALS!" quite a lot lately. This usually comes from wolfaboos throwing a tantrum over some anti-wolf crap they came across. I usually see this phrase being used after a wolfaboo has been accused of only giving a shit about wolves while having a tantrum on some anti-wolf (or any piece of art that does not lick a wolf's butthole) crap they came across.

So does this mean you also love ticks, fleas, tapeworms, other parasitic animals, mealworms, shrews, people, lungfish.... the list goes on.

Do you also love animals that you never knew existed? There are thought to be 5 to 100 million different species on earth. Do you really love all of them?

Pretty much why I just simply say "I like animals"

No. I love them all. Even the ones you listed. Just humans. I wish they were all gone. Except a handful of people with compassion like me.

I believe if a good chunk of humans were to just suddenly disappear, then most household pets wouldn't be taken care of and eventually die.

Also, some zoos and animal sanctuaries would probably be deserted as well.

So potentially eliminating most humans would indeed result in a mass death of animals.
And by the time people repopulate and have raised "compassionate" people, it'd be too late for any current animal.

Really either have the world the way it is, or have a dystopian world where everything is just dead because there's no middle ground and there's no good ending.

SachinAmateurArtist In reply to AppleGlassJuice [2019-06-17 18:51:22 +0000 UTC]

The things you state are because of human impact already. It's already a dystopia for the majority of animals because we oppress on their existance. They would populate and live normally if we were removed from the world's biomass.

I mean, nature also has bad affects on animals as well.
Hell, the biggest mass extinction of animals was caused by a meteor.
Not all animals are living in a life of pain and misery, it's really a huge half. Some are tortured, some are pampered.
Animals are already populating normally. We even try to bring back animals going extinct.

The number one thing I hate, hate, HATE seeing in animal lovers is that
"Oh, humans are bad and dangerous. We should all vanish from this Earth"

And really, you can have that opinion on our species. Humanity is far from great, and no one is forcing you to like it.
But you have to have an open mind here.
Think about the good and the bad of this world. Paying too much attention to the bad will just lead to more hate and complaints which won't get us any far.
I personally believe our purpose is to explore, be more creative, and to adapt.
Those who don't understand how important animals are are just morons. See how impactful some humans can be, we have much more potential than just to hate ourselves.

Sorry for the rant, but I see this too often and it really annoys me. The world can not function without a good and bad.
Not trying to argue or anything, just sharing my thoughts.

No problem, I get you 100%. The main reason behind my misanthropy is because humanity as a species is not as you describe. The amount of torturous harm we have commited towards our own species, other animals, and the planet is indescribable, and that really sucks that we turned out blessing of intelligence, thought, and creativity into a curse. With great power comes great responsibility but right now "responsibility" is basically corruption.

Yeah I can agree on that. Everything that is liked is corrupted in some way or at least will be.

Deadly, sometimes. Horrifying, no. It's nature.

And I don't hate all people. Only some of them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

SachinAmateurArtist In reply to AppleGlassJuice [2019-06-18 03:42:21 +0000 UTC]

Um, parasitic organisms cause pain for survival, not for fun like humans do. Yes, it makes sense.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AppleGlassJuice In reply to SachinAmateurArtist [2019-06-18 04:43:19 +0000 UTC]

Some animals do kill for fun, though.

Also that still doesn't make sense to like parasites.
The cause pain for survival. Okay?
Insects, arachnids, crustaceans, anthropoids, bacteria etc are perfectly fine. Nothing against them.

Parasites just kind of exist to just be dangerous to anything it comes across.

Idk, I'm kinda interested if there's anything about them that seem pleasing, but as far as I learned there's no beneficial thing about them.

I'm sorry mr. extreme vegan. I try to be compassionate but I just can't accept insects that steal my blood, give me itchy bumps in return and make annoying flying sounds all the time. I wish they would just stay outside and leave me alone.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SachinAmateurArtist In reply to TaiFerret [2019-06-18 23:55:11 +0000 UTC]

Extreme vegan? What a joke. It's not like they require blood for survival and reproduction nor is it like we poison them in mass numbers simply for existing and crossing our path. Who's really extreme here? You eat meat? You have any idea of the suffering animals are condemned for your willful ignorance and personal pleasure? Thought so. That's where stupidity puts you. Look at the bigger picture and get some common sense.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TaiFerret In reply to SachinAmateurArtist [2019-06-25 23:25:22 +0000 UTC]

I'm sorry if I offended you by calling you extreme. I personally have nothing against veganism per se. I just think it's absurd to defend the lives of stupid little insects like mosquitoes. Why should I have to suffer just to allow them to live and reproduce when all they ever do is steal more people's blood and sometimes even spread diseases? I prefer spiders. At least they get rid of a lot of those annoying critters.

I actually do care more about animals than you might think. I don't like factory farming. I actually don't eat meat very often, but when I do I make sure it's from organic farming or wild, in order to support the best possible life for the animals.

I think both extremes are wrong. I think we all should do more to avoid unnecessary suffering but we shouldn't go to absurd extremes. Absolute veganism is impossible. Insects and worms die all the time simply by harvesting food and they are prey to many animals after all, so what does it matter anyway? Those little invertebrates don't have the same value and mental capabilities as higher order animals. I feel more related to my fellow mammals. And even then I can't really blame people for wanting to kill a tiger that killed people. People's lives matter too.

SachinAmateurArtist In reply to TaiFerret [2019-07-02 12:39:41 +0000 UTC]

Because every animal is driven by a survival instinct, including mosquitoes, they're no different. Just so happen to feed on is. We need them more than you think and they already have a great burden being a good source. They also manage our population.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lynxrush In reply to RhykeDragon [2017-01-06 21:12:22 +0000 UTC]

As defined scientifically, they are not alive. You learn this in your very first gen bio class in college, in the states at least. I'm a biology major, I'm not talking out my ass.
Viruses are not considered "alive" because they lack many of the properties that scientists associate with living organisms. Primarily, they lack the ability to reproduce without the aid of a host cell, and don't use the typical cell- division approach to replication.Citation; scienceline.ucsb.edu/getkey.ph…

Sperm and Egg are living cells. They go through cell division, replicate, and can do so without the aid of a host cell. Comparing them to a virus is completely inaccurate.
Viruses are not made of cells. They are literally just DNA surrounded by a capsid, or protein. No cells.
