You're only killing yourself faster too.
Maybe you should read the scources she posted, and apply her logic, which remains true no matter who says it.
Only a truly evil person wants to destroy the lives of themselves and others. I can't imagine what happened to you in your life to make you into a monster.
If you don't think you can change...
How about you just put yourself out of your own misery and go jump in the slaughterhouse grinder you belong in.

π: 0 β©: 1
Thylacinus1 In reply to kalidoree [2014-10-16 23:35:27 +0000 UTC]
Yes. It is done (with the exception of fur farms such as in china, that I and most others do NOT support) in responsible fur farms by a veterinarian that euthanizes them the same way a dear pet is euthanized if they ever become in too much pain with no help.

I didn't ask how it's done, what I mean is how can you justify killing someone in any way just to wear their pelt? I also don't believe in humane killing, its an oxymoron. Painless? Maybe, but how can anyone measure what animals are rreally going through?
π: 0 β©: 1
Thylacinus1 In reply to kalidoree [2014-10-18 18:49:38 +0000 UTC]
Humane is without pain and with reason. Such as a dog too injured or sick to be cured of its pain.Β
Animals raised and killed for the fur industry live in a good environment and die painlessly. Their fur can be made in to clothing to keep people warm, every single bit of that animal is used in different ways (for example, meat feeds zoo animals etc).
π: 0 β©: 1
kalidoree In reply to Thylacinus1 [2014-10-19 08:18:00 +0000 UTC]
Would the people buying the fur pelts die without them? No. So it is without reason. Plus, there are faux alternatives - or if you believe it's bad for the environment, don't wear any fur at all.Β
You know, maybe some fur farms have good living conditions. So do some meat farms. But there's always those who don't, who treat animals wrong, and unless you go visiting the farm before you buy any animal product you can't be sure.Β
Putting down a dog too injured is different than killing a healthy animal because you want to wear it.Β
What if people started raising and killing orphan babies for their skin? But wait, they do it humanely, and the babies feel no pain - would it be right?Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Thylacinus1 In reply to kalidoree [2014-10-19 21:18:51 +0000 UTC]
Actually there are thousands of people who depend on furs to keep them warm. Mostly tribal peoples however. We don't *need* meat to survive either. Actually a meat-free world would solve the world hunger problem (it takes 80 lbs of grain to make 1 lbs of beef that can cause serious health problems), but that isn't stopping anyone from eating 3x the healthy limit of steak for dinner. Faux furs are worse for the environment and don't keep you nearly as warm.
*most* fur farms are amazing places. *some few* slaughterhouses are good places.
No, the way it is done, you asked and now you are twisting it. The fox, or beaver etc, is put down the same way a sick et is, completely calmly and painlessly.
If babies were livestock animals or furbearers it wouldn't be as bad. They are humans, they are intelligent, self aware, emotional, and sentient. The same as other creatures with our mental capacity such as elephants or cetaceans. Dolphins actually use twice as much of their mental capacity as us. A fox is not the same. It should NOT suffer by any means or die just to be killed, but in most fur farms, it isn't.

kalidoree In reply to Thylacinus1 [2014-10-20 13:21:52 +0000 UTC]
And millions who don't, and support fur farms just so they can wear fur. But do the tribal people get their fur from fur farmers? No. They kill the animals themselves.Β
I agree on the meat thing, I'm vegan.Β
I know faux fur is bad for the environment, and I would never want to stop someone who needs fur from wearing it - such as people in cold places without the technology that we have - but most people don't live like that. So I think fur is cruel.
So we wouldn't kill foxes if they suddenly gained human-like 'intelligence'? How do we measure intelligence? By comparing it to human intelligence? Seems a little too convenient to me.Β
Young babies are arguably not as intelligent as adults and not self-aware. Does that make it okay to kill them, then?Β

Im really not getting anything done with this conversation, so Ill wrap it up. I support responsible and humane hunting, and fur. I am an animal lover. There are many things more wrong and cruel done to animals that the fur trade. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect it.

My stance on fur is this: Use everything you can. I wear deerskins all the time, because I hunt deer and it sickens me to waste anything from an animal I ended. I think fur is perfectly acceptable if the animal was not endangered or wasted. If you are going to kill something you shouldn't waste it's sacrifice. Donate the meat to the needy or dog food or something if you refuse to make use of it. Anyway, that is my opinion on the subject. (Wondering what a camel tastes like.)

I entirely agree! No matter how full I am, I eat all the meat given to me, since an animal died for it, I feel bad if I waste a bit of meat (and that is how I get fat xD)
I dunno about camel, but horse I hear tastes nice!

I only ever ate horse once. My brother's Friesian was attacked by an eastern mountain lion. Well, I ended up having to shoot his horse (It had been bleeding for most of the night and was suffering) but I didn't want to let that beautiful creature rot. I butchered the horse and gave my brother a necklace made of the horse hair. Then I ate horse for nearly a month and let me tell you, it's not all it's cracked up to be. It basically tastes like a mixture of beef-steak and deer loin. I'd rather eat rabbit or squirrel. Meat doesn't get much better than squirrel.

Horse skin is difficult to say the least. I turned that horse's skin into rawhide that I cut up and braided for rope. As long as the rope doesn't get too wet, it is wickedly strong. Rabbit is amazing, chewy, savory, lean meat. Deer is kind of like a mixture beef and pork, though it is extremely tender and basically melts in your mouth. I have always wondered what kangaroo tastes like, being from north america.Β
