You know, I really like this one headcanon I read a few years ago. Basically, 049's disease is the cruelty and evil in a man's heart. D-Class, the "few victims" at the foundation are not good people. His "cure" is like mercy killing, but he lets his victims patients live an existence where all they can do is destroy and be cruel naturally.Β
Now, he doesn't hurt the scientists because
1) they're also killing D-Class
2) they aren't necessarily cruel or evil. They do what they have to do, whether they like to or not (Procedure 110-Montauk)

My friend said something similar, his cure is not for the "plague" they speak of and what everyone believes because of his apperance and what he says, but his cure is more towards Human Ignorance. He wants to 'cure' the ignorance of mankind, and that also kinda explains a little why he refuses to speak most of the time and quiet a lot, most of the humans at the foundation he have encountered were too ignorant for him to speak.
I don't remember what she said, but this is what I kinda figured what she meant when she said about human ignorance being the 'plague' 049 wants to cure. Probably wrong but eh, headcanons shall be headcanons.

oh yeah I thought that too. I think its humanity. Humans are pretty powerful things...powerful enough to perish their own lives so I gues he is just mercy killing. Doing the job for them. Thjat is a really good headcanon
