i sketch first and cut the white part with surgical knife (x-acto knife).
and then redraw on it with white gel pen to remove the pencil mark

Oh, wow! This is such a detailed work, if you make a mistake you practicaly destroy the piece and you need to start all over, isn't it? With drawing one can fix some things, but with cutting there is no way back...
