I took these pics on Sat at the San Francisco Auto Show. I like the subtle changes to the new Mustang (headlights, taillights, lower hood line over the foglights, antenna moved from front fender to rear fender, side mirrors painted instead of ABS plastic, and a few more ponies)Related content

Love the Mustang, but the rear is wonky. And It needs new engines. Yes it's a few Grand cheaper but 210Hp Vs. 250 and worst off 210 Vs. 300 means it's not going to do well.
And the V8 is only 315Hp......when It should be 400Hp minimum. But there is a supercharger on the way so depending on the price it could be good or not enough.

Do you also feel the BMW 3-series is underpowered? The Mustang GT is 100 pounds lighter than the 335i and they both have 300 hp (2008 models) so that gives the Mustang a greater power to weight ratio:

But, if you want more than 300 hp, for a little bit more you could step up to a Shelby, Saleen or Roush. Dealers are not longer expecting markup on the Shelby GT500 so you can now buy a 500 hp Shelby Mustang GT500 for $45k!!! Where else can you get a deal like that?

Or I could just buy a brand new Mustang GT 2009 for $19,000. They are slashing the prices add a supercharger and I'll be good to go.
But If I were to look at the car I wanted next the Mustang GT vs. the Camaro SS I would want the SS. It's starting in the low $30K and while the interior will not be as great as the mustang I think I'll be better because it's an all new car, not a highly restyled one.
The 3-series is a whole different ball game, that's Luxury Sport for over $45K

Yeah, the 3-series may be a different ball game but I think it is ironic how many people often say the Mustang is too heavy or underpowered but the reality is that the performance specifications (the vehicle weight and the hp ratings) are nearly identical at the base (328 vs Mustang V6), mid-range (335i vs Mustang GT) and high end versions (M6 vs GT500).
