- Quite a rare sight to see pristine 1950's Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing and convertible cruising public roads together. Both cars were the pinnacle of the supercar world owned by the upper crust of Hollywood elite and industrial giants back in the day (such as Clark Gable and Hugh Hefner). I took this pic on 10 Sep 06 in Salinas, CA during the weekend of Cherry's Jubilee car show that takes place in Monterey, CA and at Laguna Seca Raceway celebrating hot rods and classics built prior to 1973. Interesting to note that the Gullwing has NC plates.[link]

Thanks man, yeah the drawback to the convertible 300SL is that most people wouldn't recognize its supercar status, they'd confuse it with its slower cousin the 190SL (but there's no confusing the exclusive look of the Gullwing)

And, it was so cool to see 300SLs out on public roads instead of in a museum.
