ImageThis is most certainly one of the most iconic scenes on Dartmoor and the southwest of England, and to be honest it never has appealed to me as so many landscape photographers have dissected this scene from every conceivable angle. Although I might never gain from this image in terms of sales or commissions it's one location I can tick off the list and to be fair I couldn't shoot a sky like this no matter where I am!

Oh I agree, beautiful sky and you will capture none other like it....I am yet do be there at sunset ..
whats do you do for light after...is what scares me.....lol Or would going for a sun rise be a better option..ha

There are three aspects that stand out to me in this photo and I adore them all. First is the sky. The colors and cloud streaks are fantastic. They are neither too much nor too plain. Then the tree. I especially love the form of the tree and its placement against the sky is perfect. Third is the simplicity of color tone of the ground and rocks. They contrast the brilliance of the sky and root the tree, just as the sky lifts the tree up. What a composition!
