The first commission drawing I've done in about 20 years..I usually dont like to draw for other people and I rarely get what I feel is enough for a drawing!But, My BOSS at work asked me to draw this for his wife....what could I say?

I've had a few commissions. One I was paid for, the others were made as gifts. There does seem to be more pressure on the ones you make for others. Like it's never quite good enough, and then the customer sees it and goes wild over it. Then all your fears are left nul and void. Wierd huh?

I hear ya, almost opposite tho, I rarely find time to do things for mysellf. It's definitely a drawback, but I've seen plenty of artists struggle so I don't complain that I have too many commisions. I think it's the same for most artists tho, commissions don't do much for them. I've ever heard of artists doing commissions hardcore for a few years and then never drawing again, just completely draining their desire to make art. A lot of people think getting a huge high priced commission is an ultimate goal, and then once they get there, they find out when you make it about the money, you'll lose what made you like art. I've made it a point, or atleast tried to, every 5th work is something personal, doesn't always work but just shooting for that helps keep an artist sane when he spends all his time on commissions. And people do value art low, atleast most.. "oh you draw", like they somehow want to compare it to what they did in 3rd grade, like it's something just for fun rather than a career.

Looks like you sure didn't say: "NO, Boss!" What an excellent group portrait!!! MRS. BOSS must have certainly been pleased! Besides, they all look like they are healthy, reasonable happy, and well-cared-for! What a great family treasure you have given them! Graphite still obeys your every command!!!

Really nice work. I hear your pain too. Had the same thing happen to me yrs ago too only my boss was the owner of Capezio Ballet makers so I had to do 2 ballet dancers. After that they sucked me and 3 more people there into a big painting on the inside of the building. We were paid our regular pay on the clock? Still its always fun to do.

Wow I'm impressed by their teeth...
So big and white... eheh... The two on the right are so similar, they could be twins. The other girl maybe looks more like the other parent.
I don't like accepting commissions from friends, because I'm always embarassed asking money. So I usually make them for free.
