I like your use of perspective in this. Only one thing makes me curious, what on earth is his sword bloody from? There's nothing on the field with him.

looks to me like the sword has old blood on it. its not dripping or have a shiney glaze to it. Im guessin its from a prior battle somewhere else.

Well. he looks to me like he has been walking around for awhile and is on his guard. maybe he has just slain something an hour or two earlyer. and he, being his genius, would know that there are most likely more enemys or monsters or whatever it is he hunts around...watching.
