Description
The only remaining Pocock Brothers padded cell remaining in situ in a former mental hospital in the UK. There is only one other in its original place in a disused jail in Belfast. The rest of all but a few select examples which are in private ownership or collections have ended up being thrown away.

The cell walls and floor are constructed from panels stuffed with horse hair, then covered in a heavy canvas which is then coated with a rubberised paint. This results in a much harder wall than one would expect, but also one that was much easier on a patient experiencing a manic episode than the brick equivilent.
