Hi ! How did you get that black finishing on your motives ? I trying to get that filling the engraving with coal, but it won't really work...all I manage to get is this...

I am not sure how you carve, therefor I will descripe my workflow. Hope it helps.
1. Predraw the design with a fine pencil till I am pleased
2. Cut the wanted lines just once with the tip of my carving knife.
(therby I do not cut any wood away, and those small grooves close a bit again after some time)
3. Rub a piece of coal over the cuts to press coaldust into the grooves
4. use a piece of leather to rub the excess coal away
5. Scrap remants of coal away with a scraper blade
6. Use horsetail to smoothen the surface
7. Give it a finish with lineseed oil.
