Description I know everyone has drawn him before, and there are some fantastic pieces of Iron Man artwork on DA - but I couldn't not have an Iron Man in my gallery - it is one of my all time favourite movies, made for Robert Downey Jnr - HE IS IRON MAN

Iron Man has various forms of the suit, this is a drawing of his Chrome version, i have cheated a little and missed out the hundreds of rivets - i said to myself i would 'finish' the drawing and add them in afterwards, just incase I can't make them look 'real' - so maybe an update later.

Drawn on A3 Bristol Board smooth, with mechanical and traditional pencils 4B to 4H, erasers and tissue/blenders

I have a short animation showing the development stages of the drawing that I will upload shortly.

When I see from a far distance, I think that was a black and white picture.

This is so good..question! How did you get the metal so realistic? Did you meticulously draw each one or just kinda move your pencil in the same direction throughout and it just happened to turn out so amazingly? xD

I am perhaps a little sad to say this - but I just made sure that the pencil strokes just went in the direction I thought the metal 'grain' would go, building up layers to make it look like metal, different pressure on the pencil at some stages to offer a sense of realism - no other special techniques. Nice! It looks like real brushed metal, and so shiny I wanna say some colour would have been nice to add but I'm not so sure, maybe just a little so its coloured and Black n white at the same time if you know what I mean. Great work though, I think this is the most detailed iron man drawing I have seen. The others are nice but don't look as realistic.

Your comments are very kind, I may try and use some colour in my drawings next year - to be honest I currently prefer to draw purely in graphite, but I am intrigued by coloured pencils and may give it a try - who knows perhaps a full colour Iron Man soon
