Description I woke up to my hand covered in strange greenish liquid. It was playing over a series of levers and switches next to a computer interface. It looked complicated. I hadn't the slightest clue what was happening, but my hand knew. As I stopped and looked at it, it stopped, just as if you were to stop and think about your breathing. I relaxed and it continued to do whatever it was doing with the contraption.
"I'm sorry. . .did I wake you?" A voice from my left asked me, worry evident in the statement.
"No," I lied, "I was trying to wake up at this time anyway." I could tell my sister doubted me, she knew I liked to sleep past noon. "What time is it anyway?"
"It's. . . . .oh shoot!" I moved around the device my sister was working on. I nearly brought my hand up to my face to wipe away the sleep, but it was stopped by the other hand.
"Let's clean that up before you touch your face with it." My left hand took over the job the messy right hand was attempting to complete.
"So. . .what's got you all excited today Lilah?"
I could feel my entire left side tense just a bit before relaxing, gosh, she really hates being the center of attention. She'll probably try to move it onto her machine.
". . .This is what I'm calling the "Shunt"! You remember that strange viewer on your stream last month? That "Watana" fellow? Well apparently she says she's from another dimension. Total crazy, right? But then she sent me these files. They contain formulas, sure, but not the right ones. They are correct mathematically, but they depict different laws of science. There's a formula for a human based genetic toxin, there's mathematics of "magic," there even were studies done on fictional creatures like mermaids and lamias and centaurs. Buried in all that was diagrams for this thing!"
Lilah sure liked to talk a lot. . .but as soon as attention would shift to her, she would clam shut tighter than an airlock. It was kinda cute.
"Well. . .the original plans called for things that don't exist here. . .but the formulas behind the theory gave enough context that I was able to create substitutions. This thing should be able to send out data and receive data from another dimension, same as that Watana gal's. . .but I've come to a problem."
"What's that?"
". . .I don't know what to say." Lilah looked ashamedly at her feet.
"A girl as smart as you, and you got stuck on what to say?" I gave a little chuckle, and at the time felt Lilah's cheeks flush. "Fine, leave that to me."
". . . . . .Thank you Dea."
"So how do we decide what this sends?" My hand moves to point out a keyboard next to the computer monitor and I picked up the hint. After I typed out a quick message, I hit a button labeled send. The machine clanked into life. It looked like it would fall apart at any second, but it help up. After about 2 minutes, it started to wind back down. On the screen I could see my message.
"Did it work?" I asked.
". . .I don't know." Lilah responded. Just then a new message started to form on the screen.

Β DeaLilah:
Hello world!

Β Pauline:
What?!? How did you get onto my computer? I'm offline!
