Description I was asked by Dan and Katie Merritt of Green Brain Comics in Dearborn, MI to participate in their epic gallery show celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of Fantastic Four #1 wAAAAYYYY back in 1961. They had artists each take a page from the issue and re-create it in their own style, adapting the art to their own style, but maintaining the original content and dialogue. The show is amazing, and I was honored to be asked to re-create the classic cover for the exhibition.

My only alteration to the cover; making Sue Storm less "helpless" than on the original cover. After all, she IS the most powerful member of the group! : )

In the first issues of the FF, the Thing's skin looked my like dried mud/dinosaur skin. Within a year, he changed to the current rocky skin we know today. TRUE FACT! : )

As I said over at Whitechapel, that's great. I particularly like that Sue looks determined rather than scared.

Thanks, I'm really sick of the "helpless female" pose. I wanted to to have her say "Back off guys while I choke this thing to death with my force field...", but I promised to keep the original text.
