Hi...thank you....
Im really no expert at drawing, only starting out myself so my advice is limited to what i have learnt so far.
Get yourself a tortillion, if you havent got one already, this is important to use for blending. Though shading can be achieved in many ways, this is how i do it...
The wrinkles i achieved by drawing the deep furrows as you see them, just dark thick lines, then using a torillion (a blending Stick, which is just a pointed stick really) i use the graphite of these lines and work with that to acheieve the shadows which make them appear to have depth..i then did dark dots and lighter dots,(acheieved using an eraser) to make it look like the pores of the skin. The older a person is the larger the pores it seems.again blending with a tortillion.
To draw a portrait, start out with finding a good reference photograph, i always change the photo im using to black and white on the computer, then you can see all the shadows, dark lines etc better.Sketch the basic outlines, eyes nose etc
For young skin i lay down a foundation of graphite and use a tissue to blend this in...then i add more garphite to the areas that are darker, layer after layer, blending it in with a torillion ... Remember there are no lines on a face just shadows to give the illusion of depth and to give it structure.....
Really look at your reference photo and study everything about it, look at where the lighter areas are, where shadows fall etc...you will be surprised at how much you miss.My Bowie and Jolie drawings are testamount to that. Draw exactly what you see, not what you think should be there..
Check out the many tutorials on DA, and the most important thing is, practise, practise practise.....
Hope this helps...

Thanx...im not sure whether to add the headress or not...though i like it as it is. Reminds me a bit of the scene from the film "The Shining" with Jack Nicholson sticking his head through the door saying "Heres Johnny".
