Description YYYeeeaaH! At last! Done!

An entry for and African Predator contest!!

About art
Took me numerous sketches to get the proportions and anatomy right and only 'kinda' worth it. But still!! Perhaps the best backgrounded piece I've done till now. And also I tried blending on this, at the inside-ear, tree, and night background. Turns out nicer than I thought, perhaps I should try blending more pics. and this is one of few drawings I done without complete reference.
Tools are: 2H, HB, 2B, 7B, 8B graphite, soft eraser, HB lead pencil, pieces of tissue. Done on A4 80gr white paper.

I wish for comments and critiques to help me improve! Cannot thank favs one by one but I'm appreciating each one!

About Genets
This is Large Spotted Genet (Genetta tigrina) or also known as Rusty-Spotted Genet, Blotched Genet, and Cape Genet. These beautiful feliform(meaning: looks like a cat) are nocturnal predator of South Africa. Belongs to the Viverine family (along with Civets), perhaps the most unfamiliar family of predators to people.
There have been confusion about the difference between Large-Spotted Genet and Small-Spotted Genet (Genetta genetta), which can be kept as exotic pets and native to Europe. I found a great comparison pic here in dA by ~SkinnedFawx

More of my best drawings so far...

I love how the fur is done I've been sitting in my room for hours per day working on art and this is one of the hardest things I try to do sketches of animals and shading so I was wondering if you could give me some pointers?

Well to do the fur, first you should learn which way the fur flow. You can learn by looking at detailed photos. And after that, you can fill the fur by making so many strokes, although they should follow the flow of the fur, they should be short and a bit irregular. If you see my drawing of jaguar you will see that I make a terrible mistake making the fur in a long regular lines. So basically it was like you're scratching the paper with pencils.

I'm not sure about shading, usually it came naturally to me which part should I shade. I use darker pencil to shade, ex., if the fur used HB I'll use 2B for the shading.

Hope this helps
