Description Hiding in the heart of the dark jungles, the Scotoph terrorises the many small fry that come close to its underground nest. This 8.7 meter long reptile has a generally serpentine look, with a long, legless body, a proportionally mid-sized head, and bristle-like scales; however, instead of having large fangs for injecting venom, it has large, robust teeth on both its upper jaw and lower jaw, which it can use for crushing prey. When hunting, the Scotoph will wrap around prey in order to prevent it from moving anywhere, right before finishing them off with a well-placed bite. In addition to this, it retains its ability to unhinge its jaw whenever swallowing something, and its forked tongue is still able to sense smells.

Like the many other prodigious carnivores we've recently dealt with, Scotoph seem to focus on small, slow-moving prey items, only resorting to eating more difficult targets when it is starving. As well as this, they aren't extremely smart, and can be outwitted by a newborn kitten; however, they do display a level of intelligence on par with that of the Chelither, as they can hide in huge trees and grab any unsuspecting prey item that comes nearby. Perhaps the most intriguing fact about the Scotoph is that sometimes, they don't always enjoy their lives as an apex predator, as Xiphaquil are known to swoop on smaller individuals and cause great harm to (and sometimes kill) them with their sharp talons and serrated beak. Despite this, even the bravest explorers should be at least a little careful when traversing the dark tropical forests, as death is waiting in the undergrowth.

While it isn't as varied in size as the dragons are, the Scotoph do come in a few sizes!Β Here are all the certain sizes for each Scotoph...

  • Regular adults are 8.7 meters long.
  • Superadults are 11.8 meters long.
