Description This ring is made from 24-gauge round copper wire that has been braided into a 17-strand French Sinnet pattern. Total wire used: Around 74 inches (~1.9 m). Although seemingly delicate, this ring is very sturdy and practical to wear.

I'm thinking of selling these and other jewelry bits on etsy, but I'm not sure yet if people would buy them.

As always, comments/crit/advice welcomed!

What would you consider selling this for? Looks great by the way.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what a reasonable price would be. To account for material costs and time (~$10-12/hr) would be somewhere in the $25-35 range, depending on ring size (since larger rings use more material). (Ideally I'd like some profit margin, though, so I can buy more expensive precious-metal wire.) Do you have any suggestions?

Hmmm, given the intricate weaving involved along the materials? $45-50? I don't sell jewelry myself, mostly make it for myself and my daughter. Definitely not an expert on what to charge. Hope the venture goes well for you!

I would buy it, if it was made in silver wire

Once I get the technique down in copper, I hope to move on to silver or silver-core wire.

Gee! Now I wonder where you got the idea???

Seriously, I've only seen one other person attempt the French 17 in wire, and she did a straight strip - ONCE - and never again. Doing this as a ring shows MAJOR braiding "chops", OR the persistence of a rock, OR that you're off your meds again.

Whatever, it's a beautiful ring and a superb job. As we said in the Navy of a job well done, "Bravo Zulu is hoisted!"

I found it fun!

The braid wasn't too hard and didn't take too long (because the thinner wire was relatively flexible and your tutorial is great), but braiding the two ends together without totally the botching the pattern was difficult.

Maybe it's because I have no idea how to do this, but this looks really impressive!

Thanks! The braid is not nearly as complex as it looks (until you mess up and try to figure out where you went wrong...)
