Nice composition, but something doesn't feel right about the image. My eyes keep wandering from foreground to background and back again, and in my opinion, its distracting

I wish I had something more positive to say

you've been sincere, I don't pretend anything different from that

I like the blurred background-- it makes a nice use of focus. Kusos. The half-in-the-picture and half-cut-out branches also earn you points in my book. )

i like how the tree "meets" the upper left corner and the blurred backround is really nice

but there's something in the background... maybe you could've chosen another anlge so there were no sunlight-reflecting houses in the background?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

pecchio In reply to tfprince [2005-01-09 13:37:47 +0000 UTC]

I think that the real problem is that the background is blurred but not enough blurred, if I changed the angle I'd also loose the light that cuts the tree in two and that hole

I think that next time I'll use my 70/300, so I'll be able to have a better bokeh on the background

BTW I agree with you... there is something in the background that is a little bothering

the wise tree standing strongly in an open field. they see all that passes, each storm that comes over the horizon. we too can see this, visualize the inner strength, and your character becomes stronger. with age comes wisdom, words become power, the ability to change, in which the tree cannot express, but wise it is, just wise without a voice'

lovely capture Tommy!!

londonxpress [2005-01-04 02:08:50 +0000 UTC]

A simple shot - full of meaning, an excellent connection between the subject photographed and the title that you have chosen. The tree itself feels old and well versed - it's seen many a thing and has many stories to tell. Maybe that isn't the concept behind the shot, but hey - I try

Nice detail and a lovely depth to the shot - I love how soft the background is - really lets us focus on the complexity of the bark in the foreground!

I love the focus and the composition in this image. But not only that...
It reminded me of something...
The distant 'lands' although so uncertain and unknown are very appealing.
Probably that's why we are so often unaware of the importance and beauty of nearby 'places'...
For me the wisdom is also to be able to see them.
That's what your image means for me

Great job Tommy. Thank you.
(the background of your photo is truly appealing!)

"ahò se me fa pensà a tutta stà roba vordì che è bono, no?!"

i really like the mood in here, created by the overall composition and the interesting toning...
and at least it provides some hope for a better tomorrow

btw: are you sure about the title? i mean, my dictionary spells it "wisdom" - but maybe i'm just too tired for the play upon words...

Nicely done, Tommy. Especially the toning is very pleasant and gives the shot something extra. And wonderful interpretation of Wisdom!

Just one question: did you sharpen it? There is something about the texture of the background that isn't as smooth as one would expect.

(Oh, and a very Happy New Year to you! )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

pecchio In reply to verero [2005-01-03 16:47:48 +0000 UTC]

I didn't sharpen it at all my friend, don't know why the background looks so... next time I'll use my 50 mm, so I'll be able to blur the background as much as I want
