Inktober Day 5: Hand practise that turned into the goddess Kali putting on makeup.I used to take 10 mins to get ready every morning. Ever since I started using makeup this year it takes me 40. T-T I wish I had more hands sometimes.

well no disrespect to the artist but i want to say that we all know --- art is the oldest method of spreading information to the world .... and yes you are right that their is nothing wrong with your imagination ... but what i think by reading lot of books and many blogs of foreign origin other than india .. that maa kali , the mother of all creation, the great protector of us. is never understood correctly may be because of the drawings, the ideas which are just focused upon her rage and they blogs and people just forget about that she is a mother..(im not talking about this particular drawing )
and dear artist their is no disrespect to your imagination but this piece of work is not about maa kali its just your imagination mixed with some animated figure i suppose may be of Japanese origin ...AND MISSED TE MOST IMPORTANT concept of motherhood love and the symbol of hope maa kali really stands for ....
to be clear to my point as i see you have place the name "kali" under # naked and # nude and have stated "goddess kali is putting on makeup". fine you are free to draw what ever you like... If I was a Islamic Terrorist, and it was a picture of Prophet Mohammed, I would shout 'Blasphemy!' and put a bullet in the head of the artist.
But, I am not.
I am hindu, and it is a picture of Goddess Kali, venerated and worshipped my millions of Hindus, depicted here in a vulgar way, so I contented myself by merely calling the artist asshole.
In hindsight, I should have just called him stupid instead.

It's artistic liscence. The artist is allowed to depict her however he or she pleases. I like this pictures of Kali, I think it is amusing

There is no such thing as 'artistic liscence', just like there is no James Bond with the license to kill. Artists eat food that we provide, and live in houses that we make. Consequently, they don't get a free pass to do anything they want, just like the rest of us.
Try making a picture of nude prophet mohammed or nude mother Mary and see where your 'artistic liscence' gets you. Or you can ask Charlie Hebdo what their 'artistic liscence' left them with.
No one will question you what you do inside your home. But if what you do is public and affects others then we have the right to call you asshole.

Actually, there is such a thing as an artistic licence. If there wasn't, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby wouldn't be allowed to envision Thor the way they did in Marvel Comics. You don't have a right to call the artist an asshole, he did nothing wrong.

Artistic licence isn't an physical licence. It means that the artist has a the freedom to draw as he or she pleases. The artist did absolutely nothing wrong. He drew Kali putting on make up. There is is nothing wrong, vulgar, disrespectful or offensive about it.

Since in a democracy, everyone has equal rights, I too, have the freedom to write and talk as I please. The word 'asshole' is a standard word from the English dictionary. This is the reason I don't wear makeup.
...That, and, well, I'm a guy. And makeup really wouldn't help my face at all.
That being said, I really do love this version of Kali you've got here. Most people know her as a destroyer, as the black(or blue)-skinned goddess of time and change, but it's really nice to see her more recent motherly side depicted. Sure, maybe not a quiet, "hearthy" mother, but a mother who wants to look good for herself, and perhaps even her ashen husband. She's certainly never been 'tame' in the first place, standing over her prostrate husband with swords and skulls in her many hands. Later granting boons and easing pain with two of her six hands. It certainly humanizes her in a way, to see her like this, which is always nice when it comes to the greater cosmic forces in the world.
In short: I adore this sketch. It was an instant favorite for me, and I only waited this long to comment so I could properly say what was on my mind. Thank you for posting this, and keep up the amazing work, as always. ^_^

I'm not an expert in the subject, but last I checked Durga was/is presumed to be more of a 'pre-Kali' (and even that's in dispute) than her 'other side.' Kali is still seen traditionally as the destroyer, but she's also associated with preservation and, more recently, with the motherly ideal even (perhaps going back to her roots as Durga).
Again, I'm really not an expert, but that's what I've been led to believe from what studies I have done. If you've done more research than I have and can back it up, then I'll accept that, but until then I'mma go right on enjoying this beautiful work of art. ^_^ Thanks for the contribution though.

She was certainly a well rounded goddess. I'm all for the deity of destruction but I also found it fascinating that she was a goddess of creation as well. I guess they're both sides of the same coin.
