Hey I evoked an emotional response!?! I'm going to take that as a complement...
Wait, what's scary about it?

Well it looks painful, and her foot looks delicate and fragile and like it could snap. Also the dedication this must take is scary in a whole other way.

Yes, a lot of dedication(she's done pointe work for 25 years or so and loves it, A true artist).

I see what you mean, They do appear delicate and fragile. But to see her foot in person you would see and feel her feet are very well developed.

Really cool actually...

Thank you,

... that is one I designed and made for her. She has very strong, high arched feet (especially when pointed), and she needs a shoe that supports this and still flatters the line of her feet.

Thanks ...
... she originally auditioned to help me with my dancers foot project so we've worked together for several years, but I've always had a policy of, "anything that I can do to help a dancer I'd do it." and pointe shoes is one of those things I can do.

do you have a factory or just work small?

pedadue In reply to lisalyn [2009-10-09 15:55:17 +0000 UTC]

because I'm a foot and pointe shoe specialist & a conceptual artist, I've found that a creative studio environment works best for what I do.

Factory's are too impersonal and large for me to be effective with somthing as important as a dancer's feet.

do you have a website for your shoes?

pedadue In reply to lisalyn [2009-10-10 21:36:54 +0000 UTC]

No, not for custom-made pointe shoes, I've found that has little value.

A custom Pointe shoe is about the foots presentation, and proper fit & care of the foot, And to doing that properly.

That's a hands on, interactive sort of thing so a website isn't necessary for me.

But the artwork I feature with pointe shoes in it is typically somthing that I've designed, so there is some bit of a visual in that way ...

... But thanks for asking.

since I don't do mailorder for custom-made pointe shoes, I d

For me to help you, you would need to schedual an appointment to come to my studio in Pittsburgh so the lasting can be made for your feet.

I would need at least 2 pairs of pointe shoes that you have already worn (as recient as possible) that you can part with.

Also, the size make width etc. of the current pointe shoe brand you are wearing now.

And what you are looking for in your ideal pointe shoe (issues to address, fit, etc)...

$85 = shoe + $20 (one time charge) for last development.

(You would come in for a prototype fitting adjustment, and then a final fitting, Once the fitting is reasonably perfected, I can generally make and ship pointe shoes as you need them based on your pointe shoe lasts on file).

The only Lansdale Pa I know of is located in eastern pennsylvania (close to Philladerphia).
