This is so excellent; poignant and entirely fitting for the Tolkienverse.

Thanks - and I've just discovered that you have lots of SILM pictures; I'm rushing off to look at them!

Thanks a lot - this is exactly as I intended it - the Witch-king is really not of this world, other than his clothing, armour and harness. Angmar must've been a very eery - and uncomfortable - place while he dwelt there!

This is fabulous, it's been a while since I saw anything Tokien. Featuring it in art journal if you don't mind (if you do, just tell me and I will take it off) so that people who watch me have a chance to see it too (you get full credit and everything).

I used to be (I've read LotR five times and waaay before the movies were made) and I always looked the Tokien art, it always had this old epic fantasy feeling to it: half nostalgic, half deamy.
Oh, I will, once the hot weather is gone and my brain stops melting like some ice-cream.

Well done! The simplicity makes it all the more sinister.

Glad to hear it my friend - I hope I get the chance to see them properly, but alas! as in your case my time for DA and art generally is fairly limited at present.

Aww, you've made him look so lonely and sad. Don't know whether that's what you intended, but that lonely focused figure riding off into the mists of despair and obsession... it really makes me see the man behind the wraith, so to say. (Beautiful work.)

Thanks as ever for the thoughtful comment! I guess subconsciously, yes there's an extreme loneliness to this piece, which I think summarises this character's whole existence. I'm sure it was the same for the other Eight, though accentuated in the Witch-king's case as the most powerful and potent of the Ringwraiths. It's a mirror image of Gollum really, and even Frodo, who becomes psychologically more and more solipsistic, out of necessity, as the Quest goes on.

Very atmospheric! I suppose this shows the Lord of Nazgul entering the harsh northern land for the first time, with thoughts of building mini-Mordor churning in his invisible mind.

It's like "lost in nowhere..." disturbing and powerful.
I really love this character and his mysterious story.
