Description My inspiration for art has been low these past few weeks. It's like I suddenly don't have anything I want to paint anymore. Recently I started thinking of what I wanted to convey with my art because most deviations in my gallery are just fancy to look at but doesn't have much meaning behind them. I want to make more meaningful art.

The painting above was inspired by trees and how everything in nature has such dynamic shapes (sat in the car for 6h so I had lots of time to look at the nature outside the window^^). Nature is alive and moving in a way that a busy city can't compare to. And a thing I've noticed is that I've started to like warm color palettes! Looking at my gallery, I used to make lots of colder paintings, but the latest deviations are pretty warm. Maybe it's because winter is over.

Thank you for this comment ;v; Yeah, we all have creativity dips from time to time and I also view it as a bucket of some sort were you either wait for it to refill itself or you help it refill (by walks and others art etc). Usually I can wait a day or two and it will be almost full again, but now it's been quite low for the past 3 or 4 weeks :/ Maybe it's like you said, that I could be bored, because I have started on many paintings but never finished them (which is a very rare case for me). I have this feeling that I should pick up a real pencil and do some watercolor or acrylics... I should probably listen to that and take a step away from digital art for a day ^^Β

Yes, the thing is... stress makes you less creative, but at the same time, drawing is kind of stress relieving! Though maybe it's just for short term stress.

I don't see myself as a person that stresses a lot but there's a lot going on in school and with family right now (this whole winter has been crazy busy) and my stupid worries about the future doesn't make it better (career, college and all that)... maybe I have an underlying stress after all, making me less creative and not fully enjoying art as I'm often tired after a day in school or when I have to work on a school project on my free time (right now we're working on a game and I have lots of stuff to draw before the deadline x.x).Β

Haha, yeah I was surprised when I joined the art community two years ago, how many there were that didn't finish their drawings! Not until recently did I understand why xD

Many times have I realized that making art gives me more joy than hanging out with friends on my free time (it does sound lonely, but a few hours of social interaction is enough for me and more than that will just drain my energy). At this point, art is like breathing for me. Not having the creativity for several weeks makes me feel a bit down :/ But you're right, I shouldn't pressure myself. My worst nightmare would to lose interest in art ;-; I know creativity will come back again someday!

Thanks a lot for your commentsΒ Β  And I think creativity would be super interesting to study! What I know from experience is that training boosts creativity tremendously, especially the first two hours after a workout or a run. It keeps your brain focused and as most people know, training reduces stress hormones. The environment also has an effect on it (or at least for me. I can't focus on art is my room is messy xD)

I often lose motivation to make art too usually I get really motivated for a few weeks and then don't want to draw at all for a while
By meaningful art do you mean stuff like Yuumei's?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pegaite In reply to Luhuala [2019-04-10 05:53:45 +0000 UTC]

It's like creativity and motivation is stored in a little container in the brain and sometimes it gets used up completely and so you have to wait for it to refill again xD Like a game or something.Β

Yes, I love Yuumei's art! That kind of art, that touches you deeply, is what I want to create
