I don't know which category to submit this..."gothic discreta", named by . suggested "melange" which is pretty cool too (it means "hybrid") so maybe that can be secondary name!
As you can see this font is a hybrid between gothic blackletter and scripty fonts. Took a lot of effort finding a good balance between these two and getting something original. And it was a pain to trace...
Now I just need Fontlab (software) to convert it from Illustrator trace into a real font. I want to make uppercase letters too... but don't know if I'll have the time/energy to do it. The numbers suck though, need to fix them so they look consistent with the letters. At the moment they look too fat.

I think the numbers work well, if anything maybe add more emphasis on the thin strokes to balance with the upper and lowercase glyphs.
Some of the characters need weighting out evenly so that they all match. Some look too thin in comparison to others as do some of the stems. A good method of weighting is the "ball gauge" method (see link)

Try the HighLogic FontCreator. Even after your trial runs out you can still save it by clicking the 'x' (as if you had already saved) and click 'yes' when it asks you do you want to save changes.

Did you ever get round to converting this into an actual font? I like it; and agree with the other comments: it IS noticeably different from the usual generic Gothic fonts, no matter what your teacher said!

It's not that unique though. I referenced gothic fonts and the teacher kept telling me it just looks like any generic gothic font, and she almost made me change the whole thing. Glad I didn't... cause I like it this way.

Hmm well, it might not look like, MAD unique, but I definately feel like I haven't seen it before. Subtle differences in fonts can be really important, so I think that this is different enough! I like it, it reminds me of a gate in a way!
I'll be designing a font for type class soon... *dies* so maybe it's knowing I'll never come up with something this nice that's influencing me! ^-^

Hmm "detail paper"? Our teacher has us using vellum, which was pretty expensive.. (T^T) I dunno if I wanna shell out any more on tracing paper.. T^T I'll keep my eyes peeled for it at the store though~ Thanks for your kind advice~~
