Well I find this dazzeling. I want it in my favorites, I will give you a watch because I want to see more of you. And I have a small remark. The sword. It defies gravity. The hand doesn't seem to hold anything that would prevent is to slip to the right and fall.

thank you so much! I'm glad you like it

and it's a valid pose though, she is holding the very end of the handle with her left hand, all the weight of the sword if on her arm where the guard is resting on her glove, her right hand is just resting over the handle. I actually rehearsed this pose with an actual sword before drawing it

I was puzzeling  about that, but isn't the grip a bit long then? I know there are longer grips than shown in www.themiddleages.net/images/s…
but never the less its a long way from cross-guard to the palm of the left hand. I find it very it very cool BTW you care about such detail. Thats very good.

it is! it's actually a two handed grip long-sword: i.ytimg.com/vi/yVPOY6fYqMQ/max… blogs-images.forbes.com/erikka…

I've always been very careful about anatomy and proportion thanks for noticing

wow! this is a very beautiful, rembrandt-styled drawing!

i like how you've drawn the lighting/shading effects on her, and since rembrandt is ''the master of lighting'', that's a hard thing to achieve!

good details on her face, it looks very realistic, while both her outfit, her sword, and her pose are also nicely drawn, with good use of realism+lighting, and they are all combined into a beautiful, realistic, ''modern'' painting.

i would like to see more drawings by you on that style. you are doing this flawlessly.

(did you draw this with the method of airbrushing, or via digital means? either way, its GOOD.)

really good drawing, keep up the good work!

yes it was a very hard style to achieve indeed, lots of thinking and referencing had to go into it.

I wanted to make something you could picture hanging over a fireplace with a nice frame so instead of something more dynamic, like most fanarts of this character, I went for a more serene pose, as if she was posing for the portrait. still badass, but less "in the midst of battle".

I am aiming to do more studies like this, I'm thinking Diego Velazquez and Caravaggio next, I just need to find a subject to paint, maybe another fanart or an own character.

hmmm, I don't know if you saw the full project in artstation (linked in the description), but it's basically matte painting, I tried my best to simulate traditional painting, that is, no erasing, no eyedroper tool. only a brush, and the color picker.

here's a link www.artstation.com/artwork/Jb6… at the end I included a gif of the full process of painting.

thank you much! I'm glad you like it

Dude, I'd love to give you a critique on this but I'm not good enough to find anything to harp on in detail -- this is beautiful, and I could totally see it hanging above a fireplace in a castle somewhere. You really captured the Rembrandt-type style.

it's okay thank you so much! I did put a lot of effort on mimicking Rembrandt's style and learned a lot in the process. I will attempt to study other artists like Diego Velazquez and Caravaggio.

thank you! I did put a lot of work on those. but the face was the hardest to achieve tbh, it's hard to get out of that pit every artist falls into in which every character looks the same I think I did well thoigh.
