Description I finally got around to finishing the test canvas for this digital painting: [link]

I'm going to be painting it on a MUCH larger canvas next and I'm very glad I did a smaller test first. There were plenty of small things that became problems as I was painting. Now I know what to avoid!

ah, i found it!

Its funny how your style remains the same, yet the picture changes so much in the traditional medium. Here you are able to convey the hectic vibrancy of a bar with all the conflicting colours, which is still worthy of admiration. Yet i must admit, i prefered the digital draft, one overall mirky brown, and the spotlight on the singer and the white shirted men was the focus of my attention, thus setting a mood. Now it seems to be less of a picture, simply because you put too much detail on everyone else in the bar.

Nonetheless, im really happy i stumbled upon your work, ill try and make my own painting equally as amazing

Thank you! Yes, traditional painting is not exactly my forte, so matching colors exactly didn't happen. I also prefer the digital!

I love the lively atmosphere and the sense of movement conveyed by the dancers! Each time I look at the painting I notice something different (ie: the woman in yellow with her back turned to the couple at the table, the pensive woman leaning on the bar beneath the man with the raised beer mug) and I love it even more. The woman toasting with the champagne glass looks like Josephine Baker. Intentional? Fave!

Thank you! I'm glad you like noticing the little details--that's my favorite part of making a composition. The woman who looks like Josephine Baker was not intentional, per se, but she was definitely on my mind as I drew this, so I'm sure there's a bit of her in there anyway.

I really like the atmosphere here... so cheerful and carefree, I love how positive energy radiates from every detail! (happy faaaaaaaces! ) I like every bit of interaction between the people here!
To be honest, colour-wise I kinda prefer the more yellow-orange tones of the previous painting, but since this is going to go on a wall and all, this is probably going to work better in the environment! (you had a problem with the wall's colour, if I remember correctly? )

Thank you!! I like the warmer color tone in the first one better too. I think it'll go better with the walls. Which are a strange color, too, yes! Good memory! I had a LOT of trouble mixing the right colors for this painting, which probably wasn't helped by the inadequate lighting. For the BIG FINAL painting, I'll try to get a warmer tone.
