Description Something that I really did not have the time to do but did anyway
entry for [link]
a Christmas themed Jasmine picture that looks neither very Christmasy nor much like Jasmine (evident by comments ) but it made sense in my head, so here it is, a brief glimpse into my mind...

hmm... Christmas...ok something different *researches Christmas tradition*
Oh! The Nutcracker Ballet! The Arabian Dance! Ha! Perfect! That sort of fits with Ballet Russes and Shéhérazade... then Art Deco! hmm dance and art deco... sculpture of Demetre H. Chiparus! Yay!

so to sum up this is Jasmine in The Arabian Dance (coffee) from The Nutcracker in art deco style with influence from Chiparus ( and some George Barbier) Yeah! Research rocks! (ugh... I never say “rocks”...)

I was trying to be a little different with the Christmas theme...

....yeah I’m crazy...

Comments Please! (Even if you don't like it... Please let me know why!)
Thank you!

I think if you focus on the eyes, Jasmines likeness pops out at you.

I love your style! It looks like one of those old woodcut British ads for tea or coffee or whatnot. Gorgeous detail for such a limited range of colors! ^^

I really like it even though I don't care for the Disney film or character at all. I love the monochrome look, actually, and I think it works quite well with the deliberately vintage/nostalgic design and feel here.

Oh I love it! The color is rich. Like chocolate. And brown! Like chocolate.

And...chocolate is Christmas-y!...right?

Anyway. I think it's gorgeous. <3

Definitely a favorite.

The only reason I dont like this piece is because its very dark, with not a lot of contrast, since its so monochromatic.

Other than that, its gorgeous. I love the whole idea of it though. It fits so well with Jasmine's character. Great job!

YAY!
This is my favourite dance in The Nutcracker (the music is simply mesmerizing) and the fact that you researched it is awesome on your part. The picture and colouring is perfect. Definitely just made my day!
Straight to favourites.

wow, i love this! i love the research you did... that makes the piece so much deeper in a sense. it gives you a better understanding of what you wanted to make and did make and its more informative for someone looking at it (in a strange way... there's just more to it... it has strong purpose and that gets communicated)

I'm a dancer and I've done the Nutcracker since I was 8 years old. I am probably way too familiar with it.... in any case, I usually dislike when people draw, paint, etc. dancers because the drawings are so incorrect. I don't understand how so many representations of dancers (from drawing to dolls to christmas ornaments) can be so wrong when there are so many photographs even online...

my point is, I don't feel this way about yours. I get the feeling that you are aware that she's not in a classical ballet position because of the research you've done. and that's totally fine. actually more realistic because in most versions I've danced/seen of Arabian, there isn't much going on in the way of classical. the way her hands are being held, the way her body bends to the side, and how the fabric appears to flow in this realie make the image realistic and they make it work. the piece fits the music! and that realie excites me.

This is absolutely gorgeous! The Arabian Dance is one of my favorite pieces in the Nutcracker suite (Waltz of the Snowflakes being the other) anyway, the colors and style really capture the mood of the song. Jasmine looks lovely.

I..... really like it. X) I love this style of art. And the coffee colors work really well for it. XD Reminds me more of Indian/Hindu art than Jasmine, but then, any girl dressed like this reminds me of Jasmine naturally. That was the first movie I'd ever seen a harem girl outfit in. XD

Very nicely done!
