Any ballpark idea of time spent on this?

It's been six years since I completed this so it's hard to remember, but I'd guess at least 35-40 hours. I worked on it a few hours every week over the course of 7 months.

Haha, thanks! Mouths can be tricky, especially when the inside is in shadow. Depending on what picture you're drawing from, most mouths aren't completely black--you can still see the general shape of the teeth.

This is absolutely amazing! You did a well nice job! It's so photo-realistic, at first I thought it was a photo. Keep up the good work!

Oh, I print out whatever reference picture I use for a portrait and make the drawing the same size as the reference print-out. That way, I can lay the reference picture on top of my drawing then flip back and forth between the picture and the drawing to see if the proportions are lining up. Is this more of the kind of advice you were interested in?

I don't think you drew this It looks too much like a photominip a pencil filter over a gray scale version of the photo.Β

I guess it could look like a pencil filter over the original photo, but this is truly a drawing. Some of the proportions in the drawing are a little different from the original photo (eyebrows aren't as high, lip doesn't slant to the left, left nostril isn't as big). Here are some pictures as I worked on it, too.

I love it! That little guy is just too cute! And I know what you mean about taking a long time to complete a drawing. I recently finished a commission that was in the works for maybe half a year...
