The whole game is a gigantic mess of feels ;__; (In the best possible way!)

Ooooohhhh...the original plan for that ending was kind of disappointing. *marches to Pig-Mask theme*

No crying until the end!
Seriously though, I'm intrigued - what was the original ending?! I couldn't imagine a more perfect end than what was in the final product D:

As I understand it, the worst would come to pass with the Dark Dragon's awakening. Despite his best efforts, Lucas would have failed and the world would meet it's end.
I know Itoi could get a bit emotional when he wrote these games, but that would've been a pretty depressing way to bring the series to a close.

I figured it was open to interpretation, I took it as something like at the end of Princess Mononoke - they have a clean slate, it's not great, but it's workable? Or maybe that world ends, the Po(r)key rule one, and starts again without him, even though he still exists somewhere? There's loads of weird theories saying that Mother 3 ends up being a prequel to Mother 1 because or some strange time loop thing but I can't get my head around those ones xD
Also I found this before and couldn't stop laughing (sort of relevant!): fav.me/d4r8vxj

The seclusion of the Absolutely Safe Machine was pitiful enough. To be the engine that sets a new universe into motion wherein you don't even exist though? I'd say that's pretty hard for a series this bright and colorful, but then I remember the time four kids underwent surgery to become robots to fight some Cthulian horror.
Also, that reminds me of the run my buddy and I did in Mother 3. When we gave the Pig Mask our name about halfway through, he asked us to confirm and I picked "No" and my buddy started laughing because the soldier started yelling at us and he'd never thought to do that.

Ah I must have missed on that too! One for the next playthrough xD That's another reason I love the series! The dialogue is hilarious, it's worth playing through several times to get all the options. Earthbound took me far too long to complete because I kept talking to everyone on the map every time I did a Your Sanctuary thing.
I'm conflicted about Po(r)key too, I've never hated a fictional character so much but then he has a fate literally worse than death :I The whole series is really conflicting, one minute you'll be fighting an unassuming local man or new age retro hippie and the next thing you know child suicide is on the cards. Fun!
