“Fifty!” you exclaimed, as you finished your final sit-up, falling back onto the floor with a thump. You relaxed, attempting to even out your breathing.

Nic frowned down at you, releasing his hold on your feet to sign to you, That’s it?

“I’m exhausted!” you retorted breathlessly, flailing your arms about to emphasize your point. You felt like you were lying in a pool of your own sweat, and your stomach was so sore it was burning. “I can only do so many, y’know.”

Nic’s gaze softened, and he rested his chin on your knees. “Sor-ree,” he grumbled.

“Hmmph,” you pouted, crossing your arms over your chest and looking away from him. Didn’t he realize that even you had your limits? Still, you envied his fitness; his endurance and athletic ability was what inspired you to ask him to work out with you in the first place.

Nic sighed. This was your first session together; he probably should have started out with a smaller goal for you. He watched you through narrowed eyes. He didn’t like seeing you upset with him, but he also loved seeing that little pout of yours. The way your bottom lip stuck out, all soft and pillowy, just asking to be kissed or bitten…

He slid your legs apart, crawling between them to lie on top of you, and braced his arms on either side of your head to hold himself up. He gazed down at you, his mouth twitching into a grin at your look of protest.

“Nic!” you squeaked. “You’re heavy!”

Nic lowered his head to kiss you, his mouth moving against yours slowly. You hummed against his lips, closing your eyes. Your arms encircled his neck instinctively, bringing him closer.

He held your lower lip between his teeth, tugging on it, eliciting another soft hum from you. He was sliding your shirt up when you suddenly placed your hands on his shoulders and pushed him away. He stared at you in confusion, frowning slightly.

You propped yourself up on your elbows, prompting Nic to sit up on his haunches, straddling you. What is it? he gestured.

You smiled and sat up, shoving Nic down to the floor and holding his feet down. He stared up at you incredulously. “It’s your turn,” you crooned, wagging a finger at him.

Nic frowned and tackled you easily, peppering your face with kisses as you squirmed underneath him. Exercise could wait.
