This awesome sketch art card of Hades from Greek Mythology is drawn by the very talented artist Hanie Mohd for our Classic Mythology trading card set.

Hades (Aidoneus) – Greek Mythology – Hades was the ancient God of the Underworld in Greek Mythology. Hades is the oldest male child of Cronus and Rhea. According to myth, he and his brothers Zeus and Poseidon defeated the Titans and claimed rulership over the cosmos, ruling the underworld, air, and sea, respectively; the solid earth, long the province of Gaia, was available to all three concurrently. He received the Helm of Darkness (which could make him invisible) from three Cyclopes to help defeat the Titans. He also had three sisters, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera. Hades consort was Persephone and some of his symbols included Cerberus, Cap of invisibility or Helm of Darkness, Cypress, Narcissus and Key of Hades.

I love this version of hades best, more of a dark pretty boy. But it suits him in my opinion. ^_^

What exactly is the staff Hades has?

It is a sceptre (or scepter in U.S. English) is a symbolic ornamental staff or wand held in the hand by a ruling monarch as an item of royal or imperial insignia. Sometimes, it could be used for showing a sense of divinity. Hades had been depicted holding a sceptre in statues and older art.

I wasn't sure what it was; it looks like some sort of two-pronged pitchfork.

It's just the artist's interpretation.

Nice
I've always had some sort of sympathy for Hades

I like Hades! He's always depicted in movies as evil but he was never evil. Edith Hamilton described him as 'terrible but a fair and just god'.
