This is the thing: because of the shape it magnifies the expression, which again symbolizes exactle what it should carry over for me: a sort of caricature of the intimidation-frustration. This is one you have to understand I think.

I love the idea of the myth permeating the mind and re-creating itself within, as you expressed in your other piece 'the troublesome poker.' Is the idea of that particular story something you made up? If so, that's very House of Leaves of you.

Ever since I read your original description of the troublesome poker story, I've tried hunting down a digital copy via Google. It's very interesting that it's impossible to find the story online. Or maybe I'm not looking hard enough...
