yo dawg! I heard you like jaws so i put jaws on your jaws so you can chew while you chew!

and the list of my crude scribblings is one item longer still!

i have been so long removed from my worldbuilding project that I felt like I needed some sort of fresh start.

the evil grin of this extraterrestrial predator consists of what is essentially a pair of jaws on either side of its head, each of them is independent of the other and can chew. I'm starting to think it would be cool if each of them had a separate esophagus, too, with the center of the maw being solid (as opposed to what this sketch suggests) but then again, that might be a trait typical of only certain clades of these "vertebrates"

there seems to be a great deal of variety in the ways an animal can chew with a mouth like this, closing the left and right halves together would deliver the fatal blow and rip off chunks of flesh and bone, which would be further processed by the individual halves afterwards. A different creature could attack with the maw wide open, and by closing the individual jaws while keeping the two mouths apart, creating an enormous bitemark on its prey item. small, ferocious (pack) predators could use this to quickly drain large prey items of blood. a more conventional-looking derivate would have jaws akin to those of a Solifugid, possibly with separate esophagi. an extreme form could have what would appear to be claws like those of a crab, only with the subtle difference in that each of those claws would be an actual mouth of the creature.
