Description Concept of sci fi weapon  for fictional scenario.  It is supposed to use battery under grip  insted of standard bullets.

I worked in 3ds max, used vray rendering engine and finished it in photoshop.

So what do you think. Do you like it or not? tnx for comments if any. bye.

LOVE this design. It looks compact, handy, and lethal. I'm thinking it's a railgun of some kind based on the size of the magazine (too small to hold much propellant.)

The textures, particularly the graininess of the stock as opposed to the smoothness of the metal are a particularly nice touch, and I love the colour palatte including the subtle use of urban camo on the stock and grip.

In all it looks extremely well thought out and includes enough controls to be a credible weapon. I particularly like the inclusion of a data connection port, which is obviously not a common feature of modern firearms and helps reinforce the sci-fi quality of the weapon. I DO think the data jack could have been a bit smaller, though. It looks large enough to already be obsolete, though maybe making it larger was a good aesthetic choice as if you'd made it a credible size it would be too easy to overlook.

At first I thought the inclusion of iron sights seemed a bit silly given that the operator would probably have a holographic HUD or other digital targeting system to rely on, but then I decided that I liked it, especially once I considered that the sights were mounted on a rail, indicating that they were a nonstandard part of a weapon undoubtedly sighted by more advanced means under normal circumstances. It seems like the operator likes iron sights and has chosen to mount them on her weapon as a backup or something, which personalizes the weapon on a sophisticated way, so in the end I quite liked that little detail. High marks!

I would LOVE to know if the weapon could be used in DAZ. I'm always looking for high-tech, credible weapons for use by realistic near-future operators and would love to include this in some of my renders.

Bloody well done!
Kisses!
Eva

Why do you think every time I see one of his works, I feel like I’m drawing outside of the lines (with my tongue sticking out of the corner, like I’m in the damn first grade again)?

I think the energy weapons store will have one real problem..... explosion hazard (batteries have the property of explosive destruction in violation of integrity )....It uses the principle of an external store with a rapid ejection in the event of a violation of the integrity..

yea even know real high capacities batteries are close to physical limits and they easily spontaneusly burn out which actually happen time by time.

Just curious how venting of excess energy after shot is made.

Madmann135 [2019-06-03 15:55:58 +0000 UTC]

I like the weapon shape and design.  It seems plausible, and ergonomic enough, but the issue comes from what kind of weapon is it.

Going by the process of elimination I can say it is not a mass accelerating weapon (conventional firearm, Gauss gun, or railgun) because it does not have a magazine for physical ammunition.  I am guessing it is a directed energy weapon, but there is not a focusing lens so it is not a LASER weapon.  Therefore I am guessing it is akin to a particle weapon (like the Gundam beam weapons).

If I was to complain I would complain that there are limited hand controls.  There is an on and off switch, and a disassembly switch, but that is it.

Y'know, I wonder how many people actually read the descriptions to know what it's supposed to be.

Interesting concept for a science fiction setting.

This is a really nice start. I'm not sure how you have rendered it in multiple views but I like it. The trigger and trigger guard look too fragile.  I like the solidity of the stock.  I think you need something to help with the recoil. (I've had ugly bruises learning about that) What is your ammunition source?

This looks like a lot of fun.  Please keep designing!

Enriks-Da-Writer In reply to silverartatusadotnet [2019-06-03 06:57:23 +0000 UTC]

The ammo source is the battery underneath the grip. Given how it's an energy weapon, recoil would be nonexistent in most cases.

silverartatusadotnet In reply to Enriks-Da-Writer [2019-06-04 22:16:31 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I'm trying to wrap my head around this. The ordnance is some kind of energy pulse created from a battery within the grip housing?

Wow, so what is the impact of a pulse, or can you put it on stream?  Can it act like a laser?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Enriks-Da-Writer In reply to silverartatusadotnet [2019-06-06 09:26:27 +0000 UTC]

It depends really on what it's intended to do.

If as an anti-riot less-than lethal weapon, then the pulse would only at most do either sound-based concussions to the target's body or heat-based damage like 1st to 2nd degree burns.

If as a lethal weapon, the pulse might do 4th degree burns or do sound-based concussion damage only on a more lethal scale. Think of the Lasguns from Warhammer 40K, the projectiles doing as much damage as a .50-BMG round on impact.
