Description A quick rendition of a concept I have had in the back of my mind for many, many years: Β the emblem of the disaffected, the free worlds which refuse and resist the authoritarian ambitions of the Central Powers which yet dominate the heart of a sundered Federation.

Suffice to say, it is a dark emblem to suit a tragic era, based upon the TNG All Good Things future comm-badge design. Β The usurper "Loyalist" badge is probably quite gaudy and bright in comparison, I am sure.

It strikes me as interesting that when we last left the original Star Trek timeline, it still seemed on track for such a dismal fate...

The color are actually quite different than I first envisioned β€” a combination which didn't work when attempted.

I rather like the implied symbolism that results from what was really just an experiment, the hint of gold surrounding the deepening void paired to the forms established by the AGT badge design's uneven banners and hollow arrowhead. Β The result is a very close fit for the feel I was shooting for, a sense of something great with its heart torn out, and the universe becoming a darker place, yet with a bright edge denoting hope and determination to resist it.

Well in the novels, The Andorians Seceded from the Federation because the Federation was withholding a cure to their Reproductive crisis. Also during the Events of the Typhon Pact, the Original Deep Space Nine was destroyed by the Typhon Pact but a new station was built in it's place. Just as the Federation president Nannita Bacco was giving a speech at the commissioning ceremony she was assassinated and the park/recreation area was named for her. Bashir deserted Starfleet in an effort to help the Andorians with their aforementioned reproductive crisis and as a result was designated an outlaw. However Data was resurrected in the Android Body of Doctor Soong, Who revealed that he survived the events of "Brothers" by pulling a stunt his mentor Ira Graves did in "The Schizoid Man" and transferred his consciousness into an android body, I also discovered that Lore can no longer exist as Data Separated Lore's Positronic Brain from his body and placed it in a vault rigged with a self-destruct security precaution that was triggered during the saucer crash in 2371, So I pretty much see your point.

That's thorough, but novels are non-canon, and the core of star trek was always optimism.
