Haha, that's a lovely story But I believe you for something similar happened to me, too.
When we went birding to a pond and then got in a car to continue to another place, I almost got a heart attack when I saw something suddenly move on my leg. It was a big caterpillar and a reason why my friend (who's also interested in butterflies) stopped the car to take pictures of it, because it was something quite rare, actually.
And once, when I was going to a train station through a swamp (I got lost, as usual) and luckily caught the train in the end, I discovered a nice bug on (and then in) my bag ... which then took off and began flying around in the coupΓ© I realised it was probably Rhynocoris iracundus (or something similar), the bug we were looking for on our terrain practice at school and couldn't find anywhere
These insects are really incredible sometimes...
I see, I thought the light was early morning sun or something like that
