Description Avatar the Last Airbender: New Beginnings
Book I
Chapter I: Set In Stone
Part One

Ursa sat on the balcony as she looked up staring strait at the full moon before her.    Ever since coming to the Western Air Temple, she felt a vague familiarity to it.    It wasn't something she was used to, just simply felt it.     Ursa never tried explaining such things to anyone,  just kept it to herself.

Ursa always felt a strange connections to landmarks  like this place.    Her Great Uncle unlike everyone else could see how drawn she was to former battle grounds and places the last Avatar had spent a great deal of time in.    Ursa knew she could tell him about her things which usually ended up in drinking jasmine tea and playing pai'sho.

"Ursa what are  you doing out here?" A voice called to her.

The girl in question turned to see the face of her elder brother Hakoda.     He wasn't the prime example of what a Fire Nation Prince should look like, he looked more like a Southern Water Tribe Rebel.    His hair was in a wolf tail and was darker skin than Ursa's pale complexion.   Gold eyes met Blue.

"Just thinking," Ursa replied lipply.

"About what?"

"Did you know this was where father joined Avatar Aang?" Ursa asked her elder brother.

Hakoda rolled his eyes and said, "Yes, he tells us that day in and day out."

"How hard do you think it was for everyone to accept him?  It had to be hard to get in their good graces.   Mom's especially." Ursa told him.

Hakoda sighed and sat by his younger sister.    A mere woman-child of 14 years old to Hakoda's adult 20 years old.    "Yeah, father mentioned about finding the most peculiar company to talk to," He supplied.

Ursa smiled and said, "Yeah, wasn't it a frog?"

Hakoda laughed, he had grandfather laugh.    It was a deep and throaty laugh and ruffled his younger sister's hair.  "I do believe he said so."

"So what are you out here for big brother?" Ursa inquired.

Hakoda cleared his throat.  "The council wants to speak to you."

"Wha-Why?" Ursa asked with large eyes.

"They didn't say," Hakoda replied climbing up.

Ursa followed suit.     She was led away from the outside and walked away from the outside world into the structure.     Ursa saw corridor after corridor, so much like a labyrinth.     The halls were lit by fires and soon they came to one stone door.

Hakoda opened the door where people were chattering away.     In the middle of the room, stood Ursa's brother, Lu Ten looking like the spitting image of Zuko when he was 13 years old.   However there were a few differences.    Lu Ten bore striking resemblance to those of the Water Tribe with tan skin, dark brown hair, and blue eyes.

Ursa walked into the room quietly, few would even know she had entered it.    It was obviously due to the training that her father had instilled into her since such a young age.

"Shut  up!" A voice broke in and two rocks slammed into the wall.    The room was deathly quiet.

"Thank you Toph," a much older Zuko stated.

"No problem hot head," Toph replied.

"Now about why we have gathered here today.  Fifteen years ago a prophecy foretold that there would be a set of twins born and one of them would be able to bring back the Avatar." Zuko began.

Both Lu Ten and Ursa's eyes went wide and they looked at each other.    They hoped their father wasn't speaking about them.

"Father, you can't be serious," A voice broke out.    It was Hakoda

"I am deathly serious," Zuko stated.   "A seer foretold before Lu Ten and Ursa were born, one of them would be able to bring Aang back into the world of the living."

"B-But what if the seer is wrong?" Lu Ten finally asked.    He was mortified, he couldn't believe what his father was saying.

Ursa was in shock, unsure of what to say.   However, there was a part of her that felt it was true.   She could feel her great uncle's eyes on her and looked at him.     He had an expression of reverence and understanding.

"But placing them on their shoulders isn't right," Hakoda stated.     "They're only fourteen years old."

"None of this is fair Hadoka," Katara spoke out.   "It wasn't fair that Aang was take prisoner into the Spirit World."

"How are we supposed to help the Avatar?" Ursa finally spoke out.

The entire room was quiet, especially former Fire Lord Zuko.

"No one knows," A voice spoke from Zuko's left.    It was Rebel Leader Jet.   "You're going to have to find that out on your own."

"Our own?" Lu Ten asked exasperated.    It was obvious he was against this whole thing.     He didn't want to do this.

"Not completely," Zuko intervened and shot Jet a dirty look.    "There will be people you'll need to take with you but not people who were close to Aang."

"Why not?" Hakoda asked, watching his siblings carefully.

"Those close to Aang need to keep the Fire Nation at bay until the Avatar returns." Suki remarked.

"Those the council sees as the most beneficial," General Ling spoke.

"Wait, that's not fair," Ursa spoke, her tone of voice resembling the tone he used when he defied his own father in using  soldiers as fodder.

"Ursa," Hakoda began.

"If Lu Ten and I have to be the ones to find Avatar Aang and rescue, why not let us choose who have to go with us?" Ursa asked stepping forward.

"Because you're children," General Ling spoke.

"I agree with hot head junior.    They should pick the ones to go with them.   If they're old enough to have to travel all over the four nations, then they're old enough to choose who will share their fate." Toph remarked.

It was written on Zuko and Katara's faces, they didn't want their children doing this at all.    They were overprotective parents.

On Zuko's right was Sokka and he had said nothing.  He said, "So a vote then?"

"All in favor of the council choosing who will help bring back Avatar Aang raise your hands."   Zuko called out.     There were three figure heads who agreed with it: General Ling, Suki, and Haru.

"Suki!" Sokka exclaimed.

"What?  It would be better for them if they had people who could protect them." Suki remarked.   "Why aren't agreeing with that?"

"Ahem," Katara stated.

"And those in favor of letting Ursa and Lu Ten choose who their traveling companions will be?" Zuko asked.    The three lowered their hands and the remainder raise their hands: Zuko, Katara, Toph, Sokka, Iroh, Jet, and Kuei (the King of Ba Sing Sei).

"It's decided, Ursa and Lu Ten will decide who their traveling companions will be," Zuko stated.

Elsewhere in another part of the world, a villainess stared out the window.

"Lady Azula, the soldiers have been dispatched to the Western Air Temple," The general informed the current ruler.

"Good, you are excused," Azula said with a malevolent expression on her face.

Thanks. I love Toph, she's too awesome and she just had to be there.

XD Glad you like that title. It seemed appropriate. ^__^

Yeah, you just want to hug 'em both and tell them it's going to be alright. And they're the overprotective parent types too. So you can tell they'd sooner face Azula's armies alone than let their youngest children leave their sight.
