I remember when I posted pencil drawings, and whatnot.
These days, I use PAINT to improve my pencil sketches.
you know, blending traditional and digital art tools.

Paint as in MS Paint, or a program I don't know about? xDD MS Paint used to be my main program, like two years ago. Then I found FireAlpaca which is what I use now, along with the sketchbook app. Both free and easy to use.
I almost never post pencil stuff either (this is the first) but these looked pretty good already so I just decided to post them xDDD I have a bunch more that I'll draw over and color in FA
It was SO hard to do in paint because paint is only 1 layer, and you couldn't mass erase very well...

Yeah, that. MS Paint. (though, these days, It is just called "Paint")
I've used it as a primary art tool
in order to digitally color photos of pencil sketches that I've done, and uploaded on my computer.
I've learnt some impressive tricks using Paint over the years.
(such as copy and pasting images over backgrounds, like an "Animation Cel")
It's no Photoshop, I know.
but, It's simple to use, free. and, something that has worked for me so far.

Yeah at least it does have a transparent selection option. That's been a good thing about it for me. It is easy to use, I agree, but the one thing I don't like is that if you upload an image of a sketch, you can't easily make the background completely white, like the grainy state of the picture is always there unless you go in with the eraser and erase all the way around. I've done that and it's the most tedious thing ever xDDD But I still love Paint, it's the first program I ever used.

I don't recall THAT ever happening for me.
I mostly use the "eraser" to color things in more quickly.

Paint is just so pixel based, and being the neat art freak that I am k had to make sure every line was the right size and width and everything xDDD I guess I didn't have to be so picky. But I don't use it anymore really, I use the other programs with a drawing tablet.
I guess one of the problems was I had just a mouse to do Paint with. Maybe a lot of people use a mouse though, I'm not sure

I don't draw basic outlines using tablets, and whatnot.
as I stated prior, my art method is a fusion of traditional and digital.
by That, I mean that I start with a simple pencil and physical sketch book.
I then use my digital camera to take a picture of it, and using it's SD Memory Card,
I upload the image file to my computer, and use Paint to edit the image to my liking.
a complex method, I know. but, my lines are steadier when I use pencil and paper.
I can't draw straight on a computer, as they come out looking terrible.
So far, this method has paid off.
as people like my art, and I do get the occasional 'Art Requests'

Yeah that works, when you are as good at it as you xDD True, it is really hard to draw straight with a tablet. You can see that in half my stuff, lines that are supposed to be a circle or straight look all wiggly xD
It all depends on what you can do well and efficiently, I guess. Everyone has their own method

Fortunately, Paint has a tool in which you can shape lines
to be more straighter and rounder. a useful tool, for when even I mess up on pencil lines.

True, I use(d) the line and curved line tools a lot. No other program (as far as I know) has tools like that. That's a good thing about Paint

I can actually draw better away from home, especially when I'm bored and there's no one watching me xDDD Haha thanks so much, it's from years of doodling platypi and then DP like everyday...

Really? That's so awesome! And that makes sense, I hate people watching me draw, lol. I'm a terrible drawer away from home...I need music blaring in my ears, all my tools, and to be in my house in order to actually get to my full potential. I have sketched away from home (and I guess it's okay), but no more than sketches. One time, I was drawing a picture for my grandfather who was in the hospital with sepsis, a bad heart, and pneumonia (he's healing now and back home and doing so much better...PTL). I was cutting it really close to our last day of staying at his house to visit him in the hospital and not having the piece done. I can't just draw fast...I need time. And I brought...more art supplies than clothes for that weekend. Not even kidding. Half of it I didn't even need, but I set up studio right on his computer desk at his house. I guess I just need the comfort of my tools being there, you know? I have some sort of form of OCD. And the results were great of the art! It was a picture of the portion of an island our family owns and we visit every year for vacation in Canada.
You're welcome! And that's so cool! Doodling everyday will help improvisation for sure. I wish I had time to doodle at least once a day...but I've been so busy lately. Still fun though! I'm one of those people that love being busy. But gotta make more time for sketching and doodling so I can improve. ^^ Sorry...I can go on and on. I tend to be a chatterbox...I drive my family nuts, lol. Let me know if it bothers you at all! If so, I understand 100%.

Lol that's a nice story! I have that many art supplies too haha, some of which I haven't even used yet. I've just gotten into painting last Christmas and since then I've painted things for people's birthdays xDDD Not very good paintings but still something. I'm better at drawing cartoony things.
Haha it's fine, I'm pretty talkative to my close friends and family. To anyone else I'm the shy kid in the corner who's always lost in thought, lol

Haha, thanks! XD Wow, that's so awesome! I wish you luck with your paintings! I'm sure they came out great and everyone who received them loved them. ^^ Just keep practicing! I'm not too great with painting either. And I totally understand being better at cartoony things! Same with me. Here's how I like to look at it: there are three forms of artistic methods. Millions of styles, but these three methods I keep in mind... you start off with cartoon, go to a bit more detailed cartoon (like Prenncooder's art if you've checked out any yet) and then you go to the super hard, realistic form... Then you've mastered it all! Doesn't seem so hard in those 3 forms, huh? Just keep practicing! Good luck!
That's awesome! And ohmygosh, I'm the same way! Talkative to close friends and family, but more shy and reserved in public or with anyone else. I like to get myself out there, but in a different kind of method. Not run up and be like "HIIII THERE, I'M SOPHIE LET'S BE FRIENDS!" Not that kind of get myself out there...Lol, that was so..not right, but that's an example. My different kind of method is more of: use my talents, work hard, have big dreams and goals...and along the way, I will make friends and meet people who have that in common with me. ^^

That's so true, 3 main forms... Already mastered 1 so I'm on the way! Lol
Same! It's so hard to believe that some people can just run up to someone else and become best friends in like 2 minutes. I'm horrible at speaking to people I don't know and/or groups of people I don't know. xDDD
Great method, I'm sure it works great! xD Pretty much same with me, it's surprising how many people you meet when you just do your own thing for long enough, you know?

True that xDD DA is one of the best things to happen to me I think. I never had other social media (besides fanfiction of course) so maybe that's why I feel that way. xDD We should make DA more famous among normal teenagers, so we can all connect and make art together. xDD Only two people I know from school have it (and one of them I only know through the other)
Then again it's special knowing that the people on here don't really know you personally, you know? It's a whole different relationship, less judging based on appearance and more on art style and personality. I think that's one of the best things

That's very true, these days you just don't know who to trust. There are so many cases of young people getting tricked through facebook or another social media... and the whole deal with Snapchat, with child porn and all of that. It's terrible stuff, but then again social media has connected the Earth together more. Now we can easily talk to people on the other side of the world, with a machine the size of our hand! It really is amazing how technology is improved lately.
Does the good outweigh the bad? I'd say yes, but I guess it's a matter of opinion. xD Overall I'm glad I made accounts, even with the danger I could have been in.
